OpenLR Conference at BASt

On 29 October, TomTom organised a conference titled “OpenLR™ Location Referencing” in Bergisch Gladbach (Germany) where organisations from the navigation, automotive, device and location based services industries met to discuss issues related to the OpenLR location referencing standard. OpenLR™ (Open Location Reference) is a license-free standard that ensures that the original location reference results in the same location on a receiving device or system, even when a different location referencing method or map is used. OpenLR™ is developed by TomTom as a method to encode, transmit and decode location data, irrespective of the digital road network used.

TPEG™ logo available

TISA is proud to announce that TPEGTM has now its own logo. The logo has various variants and can be requested by anyone via the TISA website. In order to use the logo, interested individuals or companies must ensure that that they read and comply with the terms of use (also available on the website).

Thomas Kusche at the WorldDMB Automotive Update

On 6 November, TISA President Thomas Kusche was invited to speak at the WorldDMB Automotive Update session which took place in Amsterdam linked to the WDMB General Assembly. During the session, titled “News from the German Automotive Working Group” Mr Kusche highlighted the importance of TPEGTM for the success of the DAB implementation in cars. He pointed out, “the first devices are already in the market which will make the advantages of improved traffic information via broadcast clear to users and customers very soon”.

TISA’s week at the ITS World Congress in Tokyo

TISA got back from a very fruitful week in Japan, on the occasion ofhaving been present at the ITS world Congress (14-18 October). TISA had a space on theEuropean Pavilion, with where Thomas Kusche (TISA President), Matthias Unbehaun (TISA Executive Director) and Stephanie Chaufton (TISA Coordinator) having had the chance to meet with many members of TISA from the Asia-Pacific regions and as well as companies interested in TISA’s work.
