March 3, 2015

At the occasion of the annual “Radio Week” organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), TISA’s President Thomas Kusche was invited to speak at the Digital Radio Summit on 11 February in Geneva.
The Digital Radio Summit brought together 110 experts in the radio community from 25 different countries to discuss the latest technology updates in digital and hybrid radio and look over its future developments.
Speaking ahead of the event, EBU Media Director Annika Nyberg-Frankenhaeuser said: “We are mobile all the time but we also want to be connected all the time. There are lots of situations where you cannot watch what is happening, but you can listen – and this is where radio comes into its own as a great medium.”
“Digital Radio is needed for reliable safety relevant Services”- claimed Thomas Kusche and appealed to the European Broadcasters to start TPEG services.
“The radio in the car was invented in 1932, so imagine what we can do now!” he said, as an introduction to the advantages of TPEG: enhanced traffic safety, reliable coverage, and low delivery costs.
Thomas Kusche used the situation in Germany, where TPEG has been widely implemented, as a showcase to demonstrate the real-world benefits of the services offered by TISA.
