A General Assembly with the will to transform

July 25, 2022

The TISA General Assembly held on 14 June in Brussels strongly celebrated cooperation as TISA members finally met together face-to-face after a long period of meeting on-line. Digitalisation and innovation were key points under discussion.

President and Chairman Thomas Kusche-Knežević awarded TISA Member NNG for its committed approach to supporting fellow members on a quest for safer roads in the context of TPEG2-EAW (Emergency Alerts and Warnings). Chris Greentree, CEO on behalf of NNG received the award. This award was part the result of a trial that NNG carried out in collaboration with fellow TISA Members and the German Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance. TPEG2-EAW aims to implement the dissemination of warning messages through in-vehicle navigation systems.

With the economy a current topic of conversation, fittingly TISA Members had the opportunity to hear a presentation from industry leader, Siemens.  Ian McGann Director of Innovation Office and Steven Dom, Director Automotive Industry emphasised the role that digitalisation can, will and should play in transforming economies, ‘a transformation that is key to business success and for shaping a sustainable future’.

Some key figures that were cited showing how digitalisation can save and reshape resources were in industry: 60% of manufacturing tasks can be automated that will not only improve productivity, but also quality and safety. In infrastructure, 80% of lifecycle costs arise from operations, using digital technologies can unlock the potential for savings. For example, by putting in place digital signalling technology in mobility, a 20% potential increase in transport capacity can be achieved without the need to build additional infrastructure. Siemens illustrated the challenges that prevents AV deployment and revealed the role Siemens is playing by exploring and creating solutions that reduce design and validation costs as well as for example ensuring that sensors developed provide more insights in less time.

During the General Assembly TISA President (Thomas Kusche-Knežević) and TISA Treasurer (Andreas Goršak) were re-elected by members for a further 2-year mandate.
