TISA Committees Meetings in Seattle

On 19 and 20 March, TISA Members had the great opportunity to meet in Seattle on the occasion of the Committees Meetings. Every year the Traveller Information Services Association committees meet 3 times in Europe and, once a year, either in Asia or the Americas. “Having these meetings in the USA was particularly relevant, as many US members had the opportunity to get involved in TISA’s work and be informed about current TISA activities” Matthias Unbehaun, TISA Executive Director stated.A very interesting part of this event was the technical visit to the DOT Traffic Management Centre  in the northern part of Seattle.

Industry leaders at Radiodays Europe unanimous that DAB+ is the future of radio

Industry leaders were unanimous at this year’s Radiodays Europe that DAB+ is the future of digital radio in Europe, enabling broadcasters to provide innovative radio that will remain relevant in the digital era. During the opening session of the conference, Jan-Willem Brüggenwirth, CEO of the number one Dutch radio station Radio 358, told over 1,000 delegates that DAB+ is the next big thing for radio in The Netherlands, where full DAB+ nationwide coverage will be achieved by 1st September 2013 thanks to the tripartite collaboration between the government, public and private broadcasters, and inspired by the Australian DAB+ rollout case study.  The same tripartite alliance was reported as a success factor for the planned 2017 FM switch-off in Norway, according to Marius Lille, Head of Radio at NRK.

Andreas Schmid appointed new Chair of TPEG™ Applications WG

On 14 February on the occasion of the working groups meetings, TISA Members appointed Andreas Schmid new chair of the TPEGTM Applications Working Group (TAWG). Mr Schmid works for PTV, an international company that provides software and consulting services for transport, logistics and geomarketing and he succeeds Joachim Mertz from the automotive manufacturer BMW.
