SUNA to introduce TPEG™ technology to Australia

September 27, 2011

The Australian TISA-Member Intelematics will offer a new real-time traffic and transport information delivery service built on TPEGTM (Transport Protocol Experts Group).

SUNA TPEGTM will be available to local vehicle and device manufacturers and will run on wireless Internet and digital radio networks. This new tool provides real-time information to motorists such as traffic incidents, road conditions, traffic congestion or delays and can be extended to other related contents such as fuel pricing/fuel station attribute data and car park information.

SUNA TPEGTM was officially presented by Adam Game, Intelematics Chief Executive Officer, on 23 September at the ITS Summit on the Gold Coast. Your LinkAccording to Mr Game, “the development of SUNA TPEGTM will give car manufacturers the opportunity to enhance their in-car navigation and infotainment offerings, and leverage the introduction of internet-enabled vehicles into the Australian market”. Mr Game claimed that the new service will “revolutionise the way data is transmitted to vehicles, and dramatically increases the breadth of content available to in-vehicle navigation and mobile devices, enhancing both safety and convenience”.

SUNA TPEGTM will offer a rich source of traffic reports and general motoring information, with the ability to provide more detailed traffic data. Future applications will include variable speed information and restriction/closure information direct to the in-vehicle device.
