1st TISA Organised Session in Dubai
Monday 16th September 2024
And that's #ITSDubai2024 kicked-off with a well-attended, TISA-organised session SIS 7: Alerting travellers in emergency warnings situations.
While floods in central Europe have been disrupting lives and transportation this week, we continued our work on ensuring broader uptake of solutions to keep our drivers informed about the ‘what is going on’ and ‘what to do to get away’.
Session moderated by Matthias Unbehaun welcomed a panel of excellent speakers: Danny Woolard from GEWI AG, Stephanie Leonard from TomTom, Stéphanie Chaufton from TISA - Traveller Information Services Association , Eliot Christian from alert-hub.org, and Takehiko Barada from ITS JAPAN LLC.
Some of the key takeaways were:
- Common Alerting Protocol (#CAP), where the industry needs to continue working to raise its profile in order to further improve road safety
- Ease of implementation of Emergency Alerts and Warnings (#EAW) – relatively small additional effort if TPEG technology is already built-in to the in-car navigation devices.
- Role of commercial service providers, e.g. TomTom, in context with alerting the general public.
TISA members will ensure that these and other key takeaways get a follow-up after the ITS World Congress.
Meanwhile, reach out to us (Matthias Unbehaun, Stéphanie Chaufton and Stephanie Leonard) to explore potential for cooperation while we are in Dubai.
Hope to see you at our stand at H7-B12-A, in one of the sessions or follow TISA - Traveller Information Services Association on LinkedIn!
