Day 1 Highlights from the TISA General Assembly & Committee Meetings in Ghent
A productive and forward-looking first day (Tuesday 16 June) brought together TISA members from across the globe to shape the future direction of the organisation.
Key milestones achieved during the General Assembly included:
- Unanimous elections of the new TISA President and Treasurer
- Approval of updates to the TISA statutes
- Presentation of the 2025 audit results and the 2026 budget
These important decisions strengthen TISA's foundation and position the association for continued strategic growth in pursuit of its long-term vision.
We were also highly pleased to celebrate Danny Woolard who has been elected, by unanimous decision of the TISA Steering Board for the award of TISA Fellow. TISA Fellowships are awarded to individuals who have extensive experience in the TTI domain and who have attained the highest possible levels of achievement over many years.
The afternoon sessions provided valuable insights into some of the most pressing developments in the mobility and location-data ecosystem:
- Beyond GNSS: Reliable Positioning for Travel Services, presented by Javier Ibanez Guzman (Renault Group)
- An introduction to the work and ambitions of GeoSquare, presented by Wim Decraene
- ‘Interstate Corridor Connect’ in the United States, presented by Michelle Michelini (MITRE Corporation)
Beyond the formal agenda, the day offered excellent opportunities for collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange during a joint dinner and a memorable boat cruise through the beautiful canals of Ghent.
A strong start to an important week. Stay tuned for more updates from Day 2 of the TISA Committee Meetings.
