Together towards safer work zones!
We are very pleased to announce that TISA President Stephanie Leonard will be speaking at the CEDR Work Zone Safety Symposium, planned for 2-3 February 2026 in Brussels.
The high-level workshop aims to bring together invited C-level delegates from road authorities, the construction industry, road haulage sector and automotive industry to address the wider issues of work zone safety. Mrs. Leonard will present TISA's work, reflecting on the role navigation service providers play in ensuring safe driving through (and around) road works.
The topic of work zone safety is relevant for CEDR’s on-going activities to re-authorise the CEDR VisionZero paper in 2026 and builds on the Dublin Declaration with its focus on the refurbishment of the aging road infrastructure in Europe.
As a reminder, TISA's newly published Real-Time Traffic Information RTTI 5-Star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating Specification aims at establishing a new international quality assessment framework with clear thresholds for evaluating the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of real-time traffic information, including information related to work zones.
The CEDR Work Zone Safety Symposium will address:
📝 Planning & coordination strategies (incl. procurement/tendering)
⚠️ Work zone design, layout & worker protection
🚦 Installation, operation & traffic management (short vs. long-term works)
🚛 Vehicles, drivers, freight & the human factor (incl. digital/C-ITS aspects)
Finally, we would like to thank CEDR Secretary General Steve Philips for his and his organisation's dedicated commitment to increasing work zone safety, and to inviting TISA to the impressive symposium!
