TISA Workshop - Alerting Drivers and Travellers in Emergency Situations

”Alerting Drivers and Travellers in Emergency Situations" was THE topic of the most recent TISA workshop which took place in Leuven, Belgium on the 22 October!

The day started with training on Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) and explored the following topics after lunch:

- TPEG Emergency Alerts and Warnings from the user's perspective and public authorities requirements - Daniel Kellner from BBK
- Public Authorities need targeted ways to alert drivers and travellers - Kai Roddeck from Mecom
- New Galileo Emergency Warning Satellite Service - Katarzyna Porzuc from Euspa,

- Service Providers requirements: CAP EAW, Stephanie Leonard, TomTom and TISA President

- Meteolarm Status and Future Prospects - Johannes Fleisch from MeteoAlarm

During the second part of the workshop, participants discussed during 3 moderated  breakout sessions the following topics:

  1. How to improve the alignment between emergency authorities and service providers for delivering accurate and effective emergency alerts,
  2. Collaboration models with the automotive industry for stimulating a swift integration of CAP and TPEG2-EAW into navigation systems for informing drivers and managing traffic in emergency situations,
  3. What are the critical success factors and approaches to successfully create start-up and sustain the collaboration in the value for emergency alerts and warnings

TISA will continue the close collaboration with the CAP community following our Vision: A world where traffic and travel information is 100% correct, 100% of the time on all roads.

Reach out to Stephanie Chaufton and Matthias Unbehaun and let's work together!
