December 4, 2015

The latest TISA Committee Meetings took place on 1-2 December 2015 at the NNG premises in Budapest.

image2Péter Szombathelyi (NNG acting CEO and COO) was in charge of the opening speech. He welcomed the TISA members and expressed that NNG is very proud to host the Committee Meetings. After a brief introduction of the company (outlining the steady growth of the company from its modest start in 2004 to about 1000 employees today) Peter underlined the importance of TPEG for the NNG products, which range from PNDs to automotive solutions.

During the lunch break NNG provided a short feature/product demonstration for the participants. On the one hand, they have showcased some regionally tailored editions (China, Japan) of their flagship product iGO primo NNG ffscreen_1219130848nextgen, e.g. focusing on the special Japanese traffic information system, the VICS. On the other hand, participants got an insight into NNGs latest, 3D content-rich visualization engine.

Bence Makai presented TrafficNav activities. Bence touched different issues, e.g. related to content creation, handling of exceptional events, point densities in TMC location tables and the B2B processes with TrafficNav’s customers. He explained that TrafficNav activities cover three main business lines:

  • Location table development, including private tables in CEE, UK, Ireland, Portugal and Spain, as well as new public tables for Germany. New public location tables for Germany enables all industry players to use location table technology with updated road network and superior coverage without major investment.
  • Incident data provisioning in CEE region and in Ireland.
  • RDS-TMC services in CEE, Turkey and Ireland.

2916ba7A highlight of the Committee Meetings was the election of Alessandro Taddei (Infoblu) as new Content & Service Provision Committee chair. Alessandro has been actively contributing to TISA and to the development of TPEG technologies for many years. TISA colleagues acknowledged him as a sharp analytical mind, able to play an integrative part in discussions, stimulating group consensus and result-oriented thinking. TISA believes that Alessandro is well-prepared for leading the Content & Services Committee and wishes him all the best in his new role as chairman.
