ITS Corridor – Workshop on Road Works Warning Service via multiple Service Providers

March 2, 2015

A workshop on the Road Works Warning Service in Germany was organised on 26 February 2015, within the framework of the initiative of Germany, Austria and the Netherlands to deploy cooperative ITS in the C-ITS Corridor Rotterdam – Frankfurt/Main – Vienna.
The use of two cooperative ITS services is foreseen, thanks to communication from the vehicle and infrastructure via short range communication (Wifi 802.11p, 5.9GHz) or the cellular network (3G, 4G). Both initial applications will increase road safety and provide the basis for an improved traffic flow in this C-ITS Corridor.

One of the main objectives of the workshop was to present the upcoming opportunities for service providers that this new project will trigger.

The event started with a presentation of the Road Works Warning service architecture and discussed the possible interface for service providers other than ETSI G5. The content that will be available at this interface via the German Mobility Data Marketplace (MDM) was also explained.

Mr. Olaf Meng, member of the TISA Steering Board and TISA treasurer participated as a speaker. He gave an “introduction to TPEG and TISA, including a holistic perspective on traffic information”.

The event was hosted at the BASt premises, in Bergisch Gladbach (Germany) from 10:00-15:00.
A first draft architecture for both services is publicly available on request to office@c-its-korridor.de.
