14th Open Auto Drive Forum Event – 23 September 2020 – Registration OPEN

The 14th OADF Event takes place as a combined online and on-site meeting. The on-site part of the event will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, on 23 September 2020.

To allow participants from America to join the meeting the time chosen is 17:00-21:00 CEST, corresponding to 11:00 AM-3:00 PM EST. In the meeting, the standardization initiatives ADASIS, NDS, SENSORIS, SIP-adus, TISA, TN-ITS and ASAM OpenX will update participants on the initiatives’ recent activities regarding automated driving. On top of this, there will be keynotes by DeepMap, Elektrobit and NNG.

Before the main event, an onsite OADF workshop is planned from 13:00-16:00 CEST. Details for the workshop are currently being planned, with topics centered around the OADF ecosystem and task force activities. To make the workshop safe, the number of on-site participants has been set to 40. TISA participates in the first ever virtual OADF forum 

The exceptional circumstances created by COVID-19 did not stop TISA Members to take part in the first ever virtual Open Auto Drive Forum event, which took place on 9 July.

This 13^th edition of the Forum broke the attendance record with more than twice as much attendees as in the previous editions.

TISA Executive Director and OADF speaker Matthias Unbehaun opened the meeting together with the founder and CEO of Kuandeng Technology in China, Mr. Liu Jun, and gave the floor to organizations such as ADASIS, ASAM, Elektrobit, TomTom, SENSORIS, the University of Tokyo, HERE Tehnologies, TN-ITS and of course TISA, to report from their activities on automated driving.

The variety of topics presented and discussed also included the evaluation of HD map quality, the benefits of standardization and an update on safe and reliable maps for Automated Driving, as well as on the Navigation Data Standard (NDS).

The next OADF event is currently planned for 23 September 2020 in Frankfurt, Germany, with the possibility to participate remotely.

TISA General Assembly elects new President and Treasurer

TISA Members reunited virtually on 23 June for the association’s General Assembly. Highlights of the meeting were the re-election of Thomas Kusche-Knežević (WDR) as President of TISA and of Andreas Goršak (JVCKENWOOD) as treasurer, who will both serve for the upcoming two years.

The General Assembly also served as occasion for Members to go through important matters, starting with the Executive Office report, the summary of activities and achievements, the Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces, and additional operational aspects. In addition, the meeting confirmed TISA’s liaison with external stakeholders, such as the RDS Forum, WorlDAB, EU-EIP, DATEX II, OADF, NDS, SENSORIS, ADASIS, ERTICO and the CCAM Platform, and provided an overview of 2020 events, namely the postponement of the ITS European and World Congresses and the status of TISA’s related papers and presentations, which remain accepted for both events.

TISA’s General Assembly and Committee Meetings were also a valuable occasion for Members to learn from external stakeholders. Two keynote presentations were given, one by Hendrik Kramer, Co-Founder and CEO of PYLOT GmbH, and one by Kristian Jaldemark, Head of Development at Carmenta.

PYLOT is a Munich-based software company that focuses on the remote control of autonomous vehicles (teleoperation), providing also mission critical products and services for defence, aviation, traffic, security and public safety industries. Mr. Kramer presented a variety of use cases on these areas, which are available for TISA Members at this link.

Carmenta is a Swedish company which works in a wide range of industries: automotive, defence and security, traffic management, public safety and maritime. Thanks to many common areas of research and interest with Carmenta, TISA Members we able to learn more from the company’s use cases on public safety, traffic watch, Connected and Automated Driving, Autonomous Driving Traffic Control, Emergency Vehicle Awareness and more. TomTom receives Global Traffic Service Deal for Next-Generation SYNC Connected Vehicle System

TomTom (TOM2), the location technology specialist, has been awarded a global multi-year deal to power Ford’s next-generation SYNC® with its real-time traffic service. Ford’s all-new 2021 F-150 pickup – revealed just days ago – and the soon to be delivered all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV are the first Ford vehicles available with the technology.

TomTom Traffic provides accurate, real-time traffic information, which will keep Ford drivers informed and can help them reduce their travel time. TomTom’s traffic service processes over 70 million driving hours every day, derived from billions of de-identified data points. By updating its big data every 30 seconds, TomTom can predict traffic before it even happens.

Upcoming TISA General Assembly and Committee Meetings

TISA members will virtually reconvene for the two-day General Assembly and Committee Meetings on 23 and 24 June.

During the General Assembly TISA activities and achievements will be summarized, operational matters, working groups and task forces discussed and best practices exchanged with external and internal participants, who are regularly invited to give keynote speeches.

Highlight will be the keynote presentation on “Situational Awareness Beyond Line of Sight for Automated Vehicles” by Kristian Jaldemark, Head of Development at Carmenta Automotive.

To allow members overseas to participate in the meetings, the time is scheduled in three different time zones: 12:00 (UCT) | 14:00 (CEST) | 20:00 (SGT) | 07:00 (CDT).
