TISA participate in the International ERTICO-FIA workshop on ITS and New Services

February 22, 2013

On 13 February, TISA President, Thomas Kusche, attended a workshop on ITS and New Services jointly organised by ERTICO and FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) in Barcelona.

The international workshop focused in particular on: ensuring the availability of open and high quality data for traffic information; safeguarding free and fair competition alongside safety and driver privacy; and identifying new business models for service providers and automobile clubs.

Mr Kusche gave a presentation on the evolution of traffic information services, the core business of TISA, and provided some background information on TISA and its membership work in creating and maintaining global, open traffic and traveller information standards and policies that increase the safety of the travellers and the efficiency of travelling.

According to Mr Kusche the future work of TISA will focus on creating a common understanding of TPEGTM technologies and standards among stakeholders and certifying already existing standards as well as fostering market development for these standards. It is assessed that by 2020, traffic information services will account 5 billion Euros only in the German market.

But from a social perspective, mobility information affects everyday life of drivers and travellers. A standardised and correct traffic information can make citizens’ journey safer, quicker and more comfortable.
